Key accountabilities of the role:

We are looking to write a new service in Python for implementing the higher education capabilities in our flagship product JRPlus which is a student management system. This service will interface with the JRPlus student management system to extend it into the higher education space.

 

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Write effective, scalable code in Python.
  • Develop back-end components to improve responsiveness and overall performance.
  • Integrate user-facing elements into applications.
  • Test and debug programs.
  • Improve functionality of existing systems.
  • Implement security and data protection solutions.
  • Assess and prioritize feature requests.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions.

 

Key requirements for the role:

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A team player to work with other engineers, QA and Product Manager
  • An experience working with Agile methodology (Scrum methodology preferred)
  • Experience with modern software development techniques using github co-pilot and
  • other modern IDEs and tools.
  • Experience with Python programming language
  • Proven experience as a Python Developer or similar role.
  • Expertise in at least one popular Python framework (like Django, Flask or Pyramid).
  • Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM).
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (like JavaScript and HTML5).
  • Strong unit test and debugging skills.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Python libraries and frameworks to deliver software with scalability and availability.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
  • Familiarity with database technology such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
